Holidays

So, we just had Halloween. I admit, I go through times that I get quite cynical and disgusted by over indulgent holidays. And Halloween, although it apparently use to have some meaning, now just means time to give, get and eat too much candy... and, oh yea... dress up. I was a bit unhappy at all the blood and gore on television... but, that's over for a while.

As for give aways.. I do like that part. At the gym, I made up little laminated tags and put the gym's info on the back... they were really cute and a big hit. See..??

Flipper Treat! Instead of Trick or Treat! LOL

I thought it was cute. (When one is amusing oneself... I suppose that's all that counts..)

I decided on laminated tags because at the gym, some kids can't have candy, or have special dietary needs and it's just easier to steer away from food. I also hope that by laminating it... they would have more of a tendency to keep them and they have the gym name and address on the back and our web site on the front... it's a win/win/win!

At home I stayed with the same theme. only I punched holes in the side and slid a lollypop in each one. At home they EXPECT candy. I know they WANT chocolate but, they got lollypops this year. I think they turned out cute.

I also had to leave my treats on the porch all night because I was at the gym during trick or treat time. Not surprisingly, they were ALL GONE when I got home. The basket was still there, I was happy to see that :)

So, now it's on to my favorite time of year... I admit, I usually don't do much for Thanksgiving at the gym, but, I'm going to think about that for a while. Taking a moment every day to be thankful for what I have has become one of my favorite times of the day.

You may have heard about the gratitude rocks? It's a little rock you keep in your pocket and everytime you reach in your pocket or empty your pockets or realize it's in your pocket, you think of something you are grateful for... it's a little game but, a lot of happy... mine is a rose quartz, but, you could certainly use any little rock you would like to keep in your pocket...

It's such a great feeling, giving thanks.
